Brazil

Welcome to Brazil! Mato Grosso is the only state in Brazil that holds within its borders three Ecosystems almost equidistant from its capital, Cuiaba, and its respective airport. This program provides you with the opportunity of visiting the Pantanal, the Savanna Tablelands and the Amazon Rainforest, comprising 1,050 km of a true photo-safari without wasting time with flights and airports.
The mythical Amazon can only be described in superlatives. It covers an area of more than 5 million square kilometers of which 80% is on Brazilian territory and those spread in 8 states, one of which is the state of Mato Grosso. It is the third largest and most intact rainforest region in the world. Through this large area flows an extensive drainage system of more than a thousand rivers, which account for 20% of the world’s fresh surface water.
The heartland of Brazil covers an area equal to Western Europe, and its original vegetation is called “Cerrado”, considered the richest savanna in the world due to its high plant diversity and endemism. Most of Brazil’s big rivers find their source here. It’s an area of enormous ecological importance with many areas of spectacular beauty, such as the Chapada dos Guimaraes National Park. Its biodiversity includes 837 bird species, 161 mammals, 120 reptiles and over 10,000 vascular plants of which 44% are endemic.
The Pantanal, one of the last great wildernesses, is the largest continuous wetland on the planet, declared a World Heritage Site and Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, its South America’s primary wildlife sanctuary. With a total area of 240,000 sq km located at the center of the continent, the Pantanal is a biogeographic mixing bowl, containing elements of the Amazon and Atlantic Rainforests, the Brazilian Savanna and the Paraguayan Chaco. This fantastic biodiversity includes 698 birds, 100 mammals, 177 reptiles, 40 amphibians and over 250 fish species.

Brazil is definitely one of the most attractive, enticing and exciting travel destinations in the world. It is a country delicately shaped by Mother Nature, known for its good-tempered and hospitable people, for the beauty and truly positive outlook on life of its inhabitants.
Larger than Europe and covering almost half of South America, just its Atlantic coastline is over 7,000km (4,500 miles) long, Brazil is a huge country of contrasting superlatives. Stretching from the Tropical Rain Forests of the Amazon in the North to the "Pampas" in the South, the natural wonders of this land are clearly spectacular.
From the awesome Iguassu Waterfalls to the Amazon basin, Brazil's natural beauty and magic continually overwhelm the traveler.
Brazil is not only filled with rich natural abundance, it is also a country of great cultural plenitude and its people are a joyous, exuberant mixture of all races and origins. In the capital Brasilia, ultra modern architecture dazzles the eye, while the baroque classics Salvador da Bahia , Recife, Olinda and the historical Ouro Preto are a link to past glory.
The modern metropolis of Brazil often seems like islands in a huge sea of almost untouched natural beauty. Especially Rio de Janeiro, this pulsating international melting pot of cultures which provides a spectacular contrast to the surrounding natural beauty.

Brazil is South America’s biggest and most influential country and takes up almost half the continent. It is one of the world’s economic giants and is revered for its football prowess, coffee production and distinctive music such as samba and bossa nova. Two-thirds of Brazil’s population lives near the coast, meaning that life is a beach for locals and tourists alike. People are the essence of the country, and while Brazil is home to a multitude of ethnic groups of varying economic status, there are some characteristics that everyone shares - energy and passion.
Brazilians enjoy a good party whatever the circumstances. Rio is the hottest of destinations, particularly around Carnival time. Dancers gyrate, the music beats and the summer temperature rises. Almost anything goes. Bodies of all ages, colors and sizes don the very minimum in beachwear and idle away the days on the sun-kissed Copacabana and Ipanema beaches.
Brazil’s landscape is as diverse as the people who inhabit it. Few tourists venture far from Brazil’s spectacular beaches but a trip into the interior reveals a different Brazil, one with a great deal to offer the visitor. As well as the world’s biggest rainforest in the Amazon, Brazil boasts many wilderness areas including the wildlife-rich wetlands of the Pantanal, the canyons and caves of the Chapada Diamantina, and the Mata Atlântica (Atlantic forest), which runs for much of the length of Brazil’s coastline.
The population of Brazil is a big melting pot of races, including indigenous people, descendants of slaves from Africa and the offspring of European immigrants. This variety is reflected in the food, architecture, music and culture of Brazil. It is this massive assortment of places, people and traditions that makes Brazil such an interesting country to visit

Visit Rio, one of the world’s most evocative cities. Take the cable-car to the top of Sugarloaf, stand at the foot of the statue of Christ the Redeemer and challenge the locals to a game of beach football! Last stop on this journey is Ilha Grande, with time to relax on its famous beaches. Lopes Mendes, a 2 mile stretch of golden beach, has been voted as Brazil's best beach on more than one occasion.

In the far south of the country you’ll be awe-struck by the sheer power and size of the Iguacu waterfalls – the world’s biggest. See the falls from teh Argenitne and Brazilian side as you walk through the misty forest. Wildlife thrives in the spray of the waterfall, butterflies, tropical birds and coati are all found in large numbers. On certain dates our itinerary visits the Amazon instead of Iguacu Falls.

The massive Amazon basin covers much of Brazil and you’ll adventure up-river from Manaus to discover this mysterious world. Keep your eyes peeled for monkeys and macaws as you explore the jungle trails before drifting off to sleep to the sounds of the local wildlife. On certain dates our itinerary visits the Amazon instead of Iguacu Falls.

Amazing birdwatching, mighty waterfalls, coastal rainforest and fascinating cities
Buenos Aires, the 'Paris of South America', is a beautiful city of wide avenues, grand buildings and a rich cultural scene which offers a great contrast with the verdant mountains and sweeping beaches of Rio de Janeiro. Travelling between the two, we explore the thundering Iguassu Falls, snorkel along Bonito's azure rivers and visit the wetlands of the Pantanal, home to an astounding variety of bird and animal species. Before hitting Rio, we enjoy a lazy day sailing on a schooner close to the sleepy fishing village of Paraty and some free time on the unspoilt beaches of Brazil's 'Green Coast'.

Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires are two of South America's most famous gateway cities. If you are short on time but would like to take in the major highlights of this region then this short overland adventure between these two great cities is for you.

Our overland holiday begins in Rio de Janeiro straight after “Rio Carnivale”. We enjoy the famous beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana and visit the statue of “Christ the Redeemer”, before heading southward by bus to Curitiba. Here, we take a train trip through the superb Atlantic rainforest and enjoy a beautiful, short trek along the Colonial Itupava Trail and visit world heritage listed Superagui National Park. Next stop is the mighty Iguazu Falls. Twenty metres higher than the Niagara Falls, this spectacular example of nature will be a real highlight of our adventure. We visit both the Brasilian and Argentinean sides before continuing on to explore the magic of Buenos Aires.

Samba, street parades and amazing atmosphere at the world's greatest party
Watching the main parade at the Sambadrome from our grandstand seats is undoubtedly the highlight of this trip - the atmosphere is completely unique and the pulsating samba rhythms are infectious. The sight of thousands of dancers and drummers atop huge colourful floats is one not to be missed. Carnival is far from all that Rio has to offer though - on our city tour we visit the world-famous Christ the Redeemer statue, take the cable car to the top of Sugar Loaf, and explore the historic downtown area. There is plenty of free time to discover the city's famous beaches, shop at the handicraft markets, take in a football game at the Maracana stadium or relax by the hotel pool after a night at one of the many carnival balls and street parties.
