Philipina

Built in 1972, the Cebu Taoist Temple is located in Beverly Hills Subdivision in Cebu City, Philippines. The temple was built by Cebu's substantial Chinese community. With an elevation of 300 meters above sea level, the temple is a towering, multi-tiered, multi-hued attraction accessible by three separate winding routes.

taken during my vacation in the Philippines last 2010. You an have a good view of Cebu City when you are here in Taoist Temple.

Unlike the neighboring Phu Sian Temple, the Taoist temple is open to the worshipers and non-worshipers alike. A ritual among devotees is where one prays to the gods to grant one's wish. The ritual includes washing of hands, going inside the chapel barefoot and dropping two blocks of wood. If the blocks of wood are both face up then one could make a wish. If not then it is not yet the time for one's wish to be granted and one has to come to the temple some other time. more here

Let's go travel and see the world again! This time I am bringing you to Southeast Asia in a country called Philippines. I am sharing about Minglanilla which 1s considered to be a first class municipality in the province of Cebu, Philippines. It is a part of a metropolitan area known as Metro Cebu.

Minglanilla is located approximately 15 km south of Cebu City. It is bounded on the southwest by Naga, Cebu; on the northwest by Toledo City; on the northeast by Talisay City; and on the southeast by the Bohol Strait. It has a land area of approximately 15.6 km². It was also known as the "Sugat Capital" of the south. The Sugat Festival is the Risen Christ festival, like Carnival. The picture below is the Church of the Immaculate Heart of Mary (or the Most Pure Heart of Mary) which was built from 1880 to 1886. I took this picture during my vacation in the Philippines. Continue reading below for more information about this Church.

The church is a Gothic confection- the flame-like arches, painted domes of the bell towers and spires and flying buttresses which blend with the semi-circular arched portals. The geometric forms and the trefoil arch suggest possible Muslim influence.

One of the best-known crowd-drawing Christian Lenten rites in Central Visayas is the annual Easter Sunday pageant called Sugat (Cebuano for "encounter"), which reenacts the meeting between the risen Christ and His grieving mother. It features children as angels with wings sparkling with lights, slowly sliding down invisible wires from a pulley system onto the church entrance and altar.

a view of Talisay City from afar and part of Minglanilla from the hilly part of Vito, one of the barangays in Minglanilla.

The very beautiful and fine white beach in Malapascua a small island located in Cebu Province, Philippines. This is a very nice place, a paradise to be perfectly called.

This time I will share here a postcard from Mactan island, Cebu , Philippines. I bought this postcard during our vacation last 2006. The Lapu-lapu Shrine is a tribute to Lapu-lapu, a native from Cebu who played a big role about Philippine History during the invasion of the Spaniards. Oh yeah, I surely miss Philippines!!
I was in Bohol with husband and some members of the family..That was during our vacation last October- November 2006..How I just miss my home now.!!.I know Germany is my new home but nothing really compares to Philippines who is my original home..There are still lots of things that I need to discover in the Philippines..hopefully next time again!!
I have some photos here for you to see this very beautiful and amazing beauty of nature..
keep visiting as this site will be a very interesting one!

the tourist in Chocolate Hills, Bohol. Philippines

The Chocolate Hills is a rolling terrain of haycock hills — mounds of general shape which are conical and almost symmetrical.[8] Estimated to be at least 1,268 individual mounds to about 1,776, these cone-shaped or dome-shaped hills are actually grass-covered limestone hills. The large and numerous perfect domes vary in sizes from 30 to 50 metres (98 to 160 ft) high with the largest being 120 metres (390 ft) in height. Aesthetically extensive, they are scattered throughout the towns of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan in Bohol.[9] Bohol's "main attraction", these unique mound-shaped hills are scattered by the thousands on the island's central plain, concentrated near the town of Carmen.
At dawn or at sunset, the Chocolate Hills are an alluring sight; the whole area picturesque amidst the rice fields and the clusters of houses made of the diamond patterned sawali or bamboo slats.
During the dry season, the precipitation is inadequate such that the grass-covered hills dry up and turn chocolate brown. This transforms the area into seemingly endless rows of "chocolate kisses". The branded confection is the inspiration behind the name, Chocolate Hills.
