Greet Copenhagen with this general tour, passing all the major highlights of the city.
To name a few: Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek, with an impressive national and international art collection, sponsored by the Carlsberg Foundation. Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament and the Royal Reception Rooms. Thorvaldsen's Museum, a magnificent collection of sculptures. The National Museum - showing many hundreds of years of Danish history. The Royal Theatre, world famous for its Royal Ballet. The Royal Winter residence, Amalienborg... and let's not forget The Little Mermaid, inspired by Hans Christian Andersen's fairytale.
This tour is a great introduction to the sights of the city.
As we leave Copenhagen and head north, for almost a whole hour, the coastline of Sweden follows us. We drive through the magnificent Danish countryside and pass the coastline to Elsinore and Kronborg Castle.
It is quite easy to understand why William Shakespeare chose Elsinore Castle as the setting for his famous play 'Hamlet.' Enjoy the beautiful surroundings and feel the atmosphere taken through the Chapel and the Knights' Hall (the longest room in Northern Europe) and the dark casemates. Lunch en route (not included in the tour price).
After the break, our tour continues to Fredensborg. The Queen's summer residence of Fredensborg Palace is attractively located in the middle of a lovely park, bordering the idyllic Esrom Lake. The next of many highlights is Frederiksborg Castle, built by King Christian IV. This pearl of history, built in magnificent Renaissance style, is now a national historical museum. It contains paintings, tapestries, porcelain, silver and furniture of great historical value.
This tour is the classic amongst all the excursions while visiting Denmark.
We follow the coastline from Copenhagen to Elsinore, passing through fashionable resorts and beautiful residential areas. Crossing the narrow strait between Elsinore and Helsingborg, you will get a great opportunity for a fantastic view of Hamlet's Castle - Kronborg - from the sea. The trip across the Sound takes approx. 20 minutes.
When we arrive in Sweden, we drive through the city of Helsingborg, before continuing to Lund. Lund is a university city from the Middle Ages, founded in 1020 by the Danish King Canute the Great. The city was the religious, cultural and commercial centre of Scandinavia until the Reformation. We visit the Cathedral which has a magnificent 14th century astronomical clock and we end up at the famous University of Lund. Lunch en route - not included in the tour price.
After lunch we continue to Malmø. Malmø is the biggest city in Scania and the third largest in the whole of Sweden. Here we take a short sightseeing tour and there will be time for shopping. On our way back to Denmark we have to cross the Sound once again, but this time on the magnificent bridge from Malmø to Copenhagen.
An extensive tour covering all the major sights of the Danish Capital. On the tour we pass by the Tivoli Gardens and the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek. We drive through the colourful canal district and past the National Museum, by Christiansborg Palace, home to the Danish Parliament. We continue on to The Old Stock Exchange and across Kongens Nytorv, where we can see the Royal Theatre, world famous for its Royal Ballet.
The tour continues past the colourful harbour district of Nyhavn to Amalienborg Palace - Winter residence of the Royal Family. Here we have the opportunity of seeing the changing of the Guard. This is followed by a visit to the Gefion Fountain and The Little Mermaid, inspired by H. C. Andersen's fairytale.
During the tour we pay a visit to one of the many magnificent churches in Copenhagen as well as pass by Rosenborg Castle, where the Crown Jewels are protected by the Royal Guard.
